12 - Work

I was waiting for a boat to come for me, one that would never arrive.
So I returned to the same work as always - my daughter and my son were the same.

Facing up, looking at the ashen sky,
I wiped the sweat from my brow, and shook it off like a madman.
Clenching my fist, I gave praise to the darkness - your father and your mother were the same.

Let’s keep repeating it: until you grow used to the pain, no medicine will soothe the ache.
I beg of you, will you stay by my side,
And watch over this cycle forever.
Until the time comes when we find the exit?

Let’s split our earnings for when the boat comes.
My son and my daughter just drift aimlessly overhead.

My fortunes gradually worsening, I waited for a blessing; in front of a convinience store, I waited for you.
Thinking of what lay beyond the cycle - I was praying for my everything.
Let’s keep repeating it: until you grow used to the pain, no medicine will soothe the ache.
I beg of you, will you stay by my side and watch over this cycle forever,
Until the time comes when we find the exit?

I was waiting for a boat to come for me, one that would never arrive.
I could see the light, tomorrow would be the same.
But I think that just might be the exit.
